about

When I originally wrote the hook (almost 10 years ago) the song was about not being appreciated by someone you have feelings for , until you are gone. As time went on and I’ve seen and experienced almost daily reminders of Racial injustice towards my people , the words of my own song have taken a new meaning. I think about the cultural impact black people have had on America the soul and flavor we have added to it, and I think about the ignorant quote you here some times “if you don’t like it here, go back where you came from”

These lyrics still stand up, my peoples love affair with a country that does REALLY appreciate our contribution to it, I myself I have recently thought about leaving this place because of the weight of dealing with injustice and hate every damn day, and I would sing this song on my way to the airport.

Its dope how your own lyrics can change meaning to you just based off of what you are living thru at the moment

lyrics

By the time you realize that you love me
I’ma be Gone
By the time you realize that you need me
I done moved on
Baby Ah yea

Don’t know what you need a ring for
You got me wrapped around your Finger
Wanted to be a gangsta Rapper
But caught feelings like a R&B Singer
Ditch plans to be with ya
Then I hate myself afterwards
You’re like a Yoga instructor
You got me bending over backwards

Drunk you calls me your “One and Only”
Sober you calls me “Your Favorite Homie”
That shit hit me different
That shit hit me different
Then when I move on to somebody New
I’m out with her and I bump into you
That shit hit you different
That shit hit you different

and
By the time you realize that you love me
I’ma be Gone
By the time you realize that you need me
I done moved on
Baby Ah yea

You said I went and made it difficult
So I made myself invisible
Thought you would be fine without me
But you’re Low Key miserable
It was more than just the physical
I put you on to all the music that you listen to
You think of me while he kissing you
You having dreams and I’m in them too.

Think of the shows that we use to binge
It aint the same when you watch it with him
That shit hit different
That shit hit different
You need somebody that will give you the stroke
And still laugh at your wack ass jokes
That shit hit different
That shit hit different

and
By the time you realize that you love me
I’ma be Gone
By the time you realize that you need me
I done moved on
Baby Ah yea

I don’t want to be the one who got away
I wanna be your catch yea
I don’t want to be the one who got away
I wanna be your catch yea
I don’t want to be the one who got away
I wanna be your catch yea
I don’t want to be the one who got away
I wanna be your catch yea
